DIY Disco Ball earrings

I haven't done a blog post in a while as in the past three months I have been to Ireland and Australia and home in London in between. Since I've been back I've had some spare time which has been spent going to art exhibitions, doing some DIY and a lot of time spent in coffee shops. I thought I'd share one of my projects, turning plain earnings into something unique and eye catching, using my favorite applique, Diamantes.

I bought these plastic earrings in a small shop called So High Soho for £4.50 with the DIY project in mind. I already had the glue and diamontes from a previous project but both are from another shop in Soho called Creative Beadcraft. The Glue is a water-based craft glue that is washable and was £2.60, and the diamantes are Holographic Chinese foiled Crystals and are £8.50 for a pack of 1440. Although the crystals are expensive, a packet will last for many DIY projects and the earring only use about 300 diamantes. I also used tweezers to apply each diamante which can be bought for around £2 from boots.

To apply the diamontes put a small amount of glue on a piece of paper and pick up the diamante with the tweezers and dip the back into the glue and place down on the earrings. I didn't have a specific pattern in mind, I just filled the earring starting from the top to bottom. As the glue takes a minute to set you can move the Diamantes around to fill it evenly as you go.

The finished product took around 30 minutes to do both earrings on one side. I only did the front side of the earring as doing both would make them too heavy to wear and I like the pink showing through because the Diamantes are holographic so the pink reflects off them.

As Halloween is around the corner I might channel my inner Baby Spice or Britney and wear them this weekend!

Summer Lovin'

I haven't done a blog post in a while as I have been super busy between; work, interning at Phoenix Magazine and holidaying in Sardinia. This is a quick post featuring some new wardrobe additions that I have been obsessing over. Summer has FINALLY arrived in London, this weekend being a scorching 25 degrees! Not too warm compared to an Aussie summer but bliss compared to the usual grey rainy days here is London.

My go to accessory at the moment is my Miu Miu sunglasses, a wonderful Birthday gift from my boyfriend. These are perfect for any outfit as the tortoise shell is neutral and the unique shape complements both bohemian and edgy outfits. These are certainly 'Diva' glasses, which makes me feel confident no matter where I'm going.

Summer in London means a lot of walking so comfortable shoes are a must. I'm obsessed with trainers at the moment but I also like to look sporty and chic. These are the new TN's from Nike, quite masculine in style but in pink satin looks girly and on trend. 'Luxury' trainers are really in this season seen from brands such as Dior, Miu Miu and Valentino.

This Calf Hair Leopard print bag from Burberry was a Birthday splurge when I was shopping in the Flag ship store in Regent Street. I always love a bit of leopard print as it brings excitement to an otherwise monochrome outfit. It is also the perfect size for concerts or nights out as it doubles as a wallet with card slots and a zipped compartment.

Finally my favourite sweaters, perfect for those in between season days. I bought the black one from Vintage shop Blitz and the White from Urban Outfitters but are both from the label Illustrated people, a female street brand inspired by the early 2000's and sports wear. Featuring sailor style lettering and swallows, roses and anchors in pink and green Glitter, the black sweater is so easy to throw on with a sporty outfit to give it a girly edge. I love to juxtaposition of the tough font and wording of 'Princess' on the white Sweater, the tough but girly nature sums up my style and personality.

I have done a lot of shopping in the past month as it was my birthday and the Summer sale period! As I'm off to Ireland and Australia on holidays, I'll be keeping my shopping to a minimum so these items will give my existing wardrobe a refreshing look as each piece is versatile and trans-seasonal.

More is More- Embelishment, Prints and Clashing shapes.

This season it is all about standing out, move over minimalism and welcome back over styling.
On the runway we have seen a come back of the Embellishment trend as well as clashing patterns, prints and textures.

Prada is no stranger to juxtaposing styles, this season mixing Hawaiin prints with tweed and sailors hats with punk boots. There was no shortage of accessories with the use of corsets, industrial style jewelry and the return of Miuccia's beloved patterned tights and socks. The collection felt 40's inspired with hair and makeup to match.

Once again Mary Katrantzou brought us clashing prints and architectural shapes. The style was a mix between western Americana detailing and granny style pieces such as overcoats, midi skirts and head scarves. This was given a youthful twist with bright colours and nature inspired details such as leopard print as well as butterfly, flame and flower applique.

Gucci kept the granny/nerdy chic theme going with ruffles, loafers and big glasses but creative director, Alessandro Michele, brought interjections of more modern themes such as street elements of graffiti, sports socks and jackets, combined with a youthful Bohemia twist of turtle necks and maxi dresses. The collection involved numerous prints and colours, using fabrics such as; leather, silk, wool, sequins and velvet with oriental and Spanish influences. With the combination of themes, fabrics and styling, the image of the brand was brought to a more modern and exciting place than we have seen previously, with the collection being dynamic yet somehow cohesive.

McQueen explored the state between being awake and dreaming with florals, butterflies, fantasy creatures, sacred hearts and feathers. The collection brought a vintage, dark romantic experience with sheer maxi dresses, leather, lace and chains. We saw lace dresses with leather corsets and structured jackets with feather and tulle skirts. Applique of fauna and flora decorated leather and lace while hair was decorated with everything from jeweled hair pins, broaches and chains.

London Fashion Week SS16

Hi all! Its been a while since I have done a post. Since last time I have been really busy working at Burberry over the Christmas period as well as starting an internship with Phoenix magazine.
In the spirit of fashion week I thought it was time to get back into the habit of posting regularly.

Unfortunately I wasn't able to attend any shows this season but was lucky enough to attend the Phoenix X Manual fashion week party at Drama. The party was sponsored by Hayman's Gin and Candy Kittens sweet company, founded by Made in Chelsea's Jamie Lang.

These are my favourite shows from London Fashion week
